ELKO EP is a Czech manufacturer of modular electronic instruments. 160 employees and over twenty years of experience gave rise to state-of-the-art production of electronic modular devices (relays), of which ELKO manufactures over 200 types, exporting them to 60 countries throughout the world. In recent years, increasing product demand and growth of production set high requirements on the development activities of the company in every way. Besides new manufacturing technologies, one of the essential issues of the past years was the modernisation of an obsolete and unsuitable information system and demand for faster processing of operating data. This not only concerned the increasing volume, but primarily the real-time response of records, which are accessed by tens of employees concurrently in intervals of mere seconds.
The company therefore announced a selection procedure for a new information system, which was to predominantly be based on modern technologies. The basic prerequisite for selection was the integration of all existing records, company know-how and data into a single database..
After evaluating the bids and presentations of several major suppliers of ERP systems, ERP ABRA G4, was chosen as the most suitable system, which offered a favourable price while fulfilling the requirements. Because of the estimated high volume of data and load of 50 concurrently working users, ABRA G4 was chosen, which works over a powerful ORACLE database, and is thus intended for the high loads of large companies.
ABRA G4 IMPLEMENTATION was performed by a team of specialists from the Brno branch of ABRA Software. The team consisted of experienced employees for the area of production, Internet trading, project management, accounting and payroll. The basic plan of the implementation project was a so called specification designed within a pre-implementation study. The specification included: a progress chart of consultants' work, succession of creation of individual printing reports, assembly of information panels, adaptation of system behaviour and functions using scripts and add-on application, data conversions, user training, and also the time requirements of the customer's employees. The progress chart considered the necessity of concurrent control of the progress of implementation. The first step of the implementation was testing the ABRA installation. After basic configuration of the system, other parameters were set according to the specification, and the testing procedure for data conversion from the original system was performed. It was in this phase that the training of future users took place.
ABRA G4 BROUGHT A SYSTEM TO OUR PRODUCTION. WE NOW HAVE AN OVERVIEW OF INDIVIDUAL JOBS, KNOW THE PRODUCTION COSTS, ARE ABLE TO CALCULATE EVERYTHING IN ADVANCE AND CONSEQUENTLY EVALUATE EACH OF THE JOBS.
A successful testing operation confirmed the correctness of the setup and error-free conversion of live data to the new system. Full operation of ABRA G4 was then started under the active supervision of the consultants. During a two-month assisted operation, any necessary functions and definitions were ironed out and added. The supervision phase validated the fulfilment of requirements and user expectations.

CRM agendas enable planning and evaluation of marketing and business activities. Customer information is immediately available upon acquisition to the tradesmen who perform evaluations and analyses.

SCM agendas not only enable productive provision of materials, but also help in planning and accumulation of a large scale of manufactured products. They enable applying the right strategy for planning an intermediate product manufacture, which is vital for optimising production workload capacities, and meeting exact inventory requirements at the same time. Within production, every worker on the production line receives the information necessary for performing the work, and at the same time records all performed operations through a simple and fast PLM Terminal. Agendas for project management and working with documents assist in planning, management and evaluation of development projects. G4 helps to control and implement basic work processes. It integrates important data from all sites in a single database for further work.
ABRA G4 in the ELKO EP Company is proof that an All-in-one information system is able to cope with the specifics of electrical technology production, for example, when working with serial numbers and their linkage within the production and dispatch processes, and when working with PCs during SMD (Surface Mount Device) and manual assembly of parts.
